Hiking the Mountains of Madrid's range

Do you remeber this crossroad?

This last week we could enjoy a nice and easy nature walk over the mountains of Madrid (do you remember its name?) After we have recovery of the effort, both students and teacher, it's time to reflect about what happens to the human body when it's exposed to this kind of physical activity.

To think about: We were walking up to 5 or 6 hours on the day trip to the Moountains. Our pace was comfortable even if we felt tired by the end of the walk. Which of the physical fitness components we were working on? Which are the differencies and the similarities with the activity of running in "La Dehesa

Many of you didn't come wearing the propper clothes for a Mountain hike. You've studied in Geography that more height you reach, cooler climate you find, considering aprox. that every 100 meteres, the temperature decreases 1ºC. Some of you didn't wear comfortable sport shoes or boots and you suffered wounds and blisters.

¡Great day of cycling!

The students of first grade (some teachers as well) had a lot of fun cycling from the High School to Morata through the Via Verde path. We must thank the generous help provided by the local policemen who where so attentive, stopping the traffic for us to ride safely our bikes and doing all the way with us.


There were also little problems such as technical difficulties with the gears and when and how to shift. We had some chains broken and even flat tires. Every adventure must have a little of emotion!

This great experience doesn't end here. We have to:

- Describe our feelings during the route. If we felt tired, we needed to get off the bike, how did our heart work, etc.

- Find out which of hte physical fitness components we were developing and compare it with the exercise we do when we go to La Dehesa to run.
